2025 NSW Community Gardens Gathering

Come and experience a fabulous day at Narara Ecovillage on the NSW Central Coast with your fellow community gardeners!
This is a day to come together, learn, meet like minded souls and celebrate our love of community gardens. We will have speakers, workshops, lots of fun, special guests for you to meet, and a community lunch.
We have Brendan Moore speaking about the fabulous Community Greening project that has well over 700 community gardens throughout NSW, The Wild Pollinator, Ben Davis MacAndrew, speaking about Native Bees & Pollinators, Sharlene Cohen from Urban Rewild speaking about their Harvest Food Forest projects in Africa and David Sivyer of Feedback Organic.
Morning tea as well as a healthy lunch is included in the ticket. Please bring your own water bottle, keep cup and bag for some goodies. And we will also have a swap table on site so bring some of your garden delights to share! Also remember you could be spending some time outdoors so dress appropriately for the weather on the day. Everyone is welcome. Fully accessible.

Conflict to Connection – an introduction to Nonviolent Communication

Following on from our Open Morning Tour and talk, make a day of it with a practical and engaging introduction to Nonviolent Communication (NVC), offering simple tools to turn conflict into connection.
Gain tools to express yourself honestly—without blame or criticism
Uncover the hidden roots of conflict and what gets in the way of connection
Get a feel for how NVC can bring more ease, empathy, and understanding to your relationships
DAVID HOLMGREN HOSTS ‘PERMIE TALKS’

Sunday June 15th. Join us for an engaging and interactive day at Narara Ecovillage with David Holmgren, co-originator of the permaculture concept. This unique event offers a rare opportunity to hear from one of the most influential voices in sustainable living—on a topic chosen by you!
NVC Weekend – Learn Compassionate Communication
Jun 21 @ 9:00 am – Jun 22 @ 5:30 pm

Communicate with confidence and authenticity.
Navigate conflict with clarity and compassion.
Build stronger, more connected relationships—with others and yourself.
Communication is at the Heart of Every Relationship
Yet, in moments of stress or disagreement, many of us struggle to express ourselves in ways that foster connection rather than conflict. Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a powerful, evidence-based framework that empowers you to express yourself honestly, listen with empathy, and build relationships rooted in trust and understanding.
June Open Morning Tour and Talk

Foraging Local Edibles – part of our June Open Day

Join wild food forager Emet, who will share her knowledge of wild plants gathered from living on three continents. Stroll around Narara Ecovillage, explore roadsides, wetlands, forest and gullies, gather and taste what the land has to offer. Emet Değirmenci has lived in Australia, Turkey and the US and is a long-term social ecologist; an independent researcher in women and ecology; a writer, keynote speaker, teacher, and forager; a re-indigenizing and rewilding enthusiast; and an ecological farm designer, with 17 years as a permaculture teacher.
The Joy of Purpose – part of our June Open Day

What lights you up? What are you here to manifest? And how do you bring a beautiful vision to life — even when it seems difficult?
This isn’t just about purpose — it’s about joyfully living it.
